World War 2 – A Heartbreaking Era
I had the enormous privilege of writing a score for director Ron Newcomb’s WW2 era short film “C’est La Guerre.” I’ve always wanted to write in this genre, and it has been treated marvelously by composers like John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and more over the last ten years.
I believe our events of the last ten years have mirrored the preceding days to both WWI and WWII – and it is partly why American artists and media have found it so interesting and cathartic to review the recent sacrifices and heroism of our ancestor’s generation in the context of such brutal carnage.
This is an era I am only touching with the frosted edge of a sliver of glass with such a brief entry; I hope that in the future I can dive into similar material in much broader and deeper sense.
