Lots Of New Updates! Happy 2015

I’m excited to announce I’ve updated a major part of my music site with recent work.  The scores I have written recently are all over the map (in a good way, I hope!)  This October, I was commissioned by author Charlotte Easter Earl to write a 1 minute intro to her online podcast, oriented towards driving readers towards her novels on Kindle Self Publishing.  Charlotte said she wanted it to sound like a murder mystery and a heart wrenching love story all in one minute, and she mentioned Sherlock Holmes, Hercules Poirot, Agatha Christie and more as influences.  It was a ton of fun to write, and you can listen to it here!  Don’t forget to read some of Charlotte’s books, you can find them here, she is a wonderful friend and writer!

This summer I got a crew together to do a short film for Project Greenlight, an HBO contest put on by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.  The story of the coming together of this short film was amazing, I couldn’t believe we pulled it off. We shot it in just under 8 hours in the Mojave Desert in blinding heat and blowing winds, I felt like Lawrence of Arabia for about two weeks afterwards – as I was also the director and the director of photography and the camera operator.  When writing the score, I wanted a bit of a neo-Spaghetti Western sound – I wanted to refer to the old Leone classics without aping them too much.  I wrote a lot more score for the 7 minute version, and you can listen to it all here!

Last but not least, I finally got my score for my short film “Despondent” online.   This is an action thriller that took a while to finish, and this score represents a score I spent a number of years analyzing and planning. The score reflects a blend of styles, with a bit of Western influences, Michael Mann thriller music influenced by HEAT and Miami Vice, and some very dramatic string passages.  It’s a longer listen but I’d love for you to check it out here!

I‘m looking forward to my next projects, I have lots of exciting music things to do in the near future!  Happy New Year!
